Football career
Marco joined hometown's F.C. Paços de Ferreira's youth ranks at age 12. In 2009–10, he was promoted to the first team by then manager Paulo Sérgio; however, shortly after, he would be loaned to get experience, joining amateurs Rebordosa Atlético Clube, in the fourth division.
In the 2010 summer, another loan ensued, with Marco joining Aliados Lordelo F.C. in level three.
