Marco Alexander is a New Zealand professional basketball player who currently plays for the Harbour Heat in the National Basketball League.

2011 Under-21 Nationals

At the 2011 under-21 National Championships, Marco competed for Waikato along with Max Williams. In the 6 games Waikato played, Marco averaged a huge 42.6 points per game. With games against Otago, Waitakere, Porirua, Emerging JTB's, Rotorua and Palmerston North. Marco had one huge game of 50 points against Palmerston North.

Waikato Pistons

2011

2011 saw Marco begin his professional career with the Waikato Pistons in the New Zealand National Basketball League. Being only young he had to watch from the sidelines mostly because of the quality of players brought into the team, being a point guard, Marco had to play behind Jerry Smith and Jason Crowe so he struggled to find court time in a roster that was bulging with talent.

2012

For the 2012 New Zealand NBL season, Marco will be playing for the Auckland-based franchise, the Harbour Heat.

World University Games 2011

Marco attended the 2011 Summer University Games in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. They had 7 games in total, but winning just 2. Tough games in pool play against Russia, Lithuania, Japan and Ukraine while they were able to salvage 1 win out of their pool against the Phillipines in which Marco scored 21 points. In this tournament Marco averaged 15.2 points per game 2.5 steals, 3.5 rebounds and 2 assists against some quality opposition which featured some of the best basketball players in the world. Which makes him one of the standouts for the New Zealand team at this tournament.
