Marc A. Spilker (born June 28, 1964) is currently President of Apollo Global Management LLC, a leading global alternative assets management firm based in New York City.[1]

Life and career
A native of Long Island, New York, Spilker is a 1982 graduate of W.C. Mepham High School. He received a BSE (Bachelor of Science in Economics) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. Spilker then started his career at O’Connor and Associates, a Chicago-based derivatives trading firm.
In 1990, Spilker joined Goldman Sachs, a global investment banking and securities firm based in New York City. He was named partner in 1996. Spilker served as head of Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities in Japan from 1997 to 2000. He joined Goldman Sach's Investment Management Division (IMD) in 2006 as head of Global Alternative Asset Management [2] and in 2007 became chief operating officer and a member of the firm-wide Management Committee.[3] In May 2010, Spilker retired from Goldman Sachs.
Effective December 1, 2010, Spilker was appointed by Apollo Management to the newly created position of President. Spilker runs the day-to-day operations of Apollo and sits on the Company's Executive Committee.[4]
Alumni and professional boards
Spilker is a member of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board.[5], the Board of Directors of The New 42nd Street, Inc., and a co-chairs the RFK Leadership Council and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.
He has previously been a member of the American Stock Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and has served on the Boards of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, the Stone and Bridge Street funds, BrokerTec, and Bondbook, LLC.
Civic involvement
On November 17, 2010, Spilker received the Ripple of Hope award at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights’ annual Gala.
In late July 2010, Spilker attended the RFK Compass Conference at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.[6] The Conference, organized by the RFK Center, brought together 150 thought leaders from the financial world, including keynote speaker James Wolfensohn, former head of the World Bank, to discuss the importance of ESG (environmental impact, socially responsible investing and corporate governance) considerations in institutional investing decisions.
"The mission of the RFK, doing social justice and human rights, is one of the truly honorable things in the world to be doing," Spilker explained in an interview with Institutional Investor.
Expanding fiduciary responsibility to include ESG factors, Spilker says, could have a much bigger impact than any on-the-ground initiative that the Center might undertake. “If the entire investment landscape changes by one small little fraction, the impact could be on hundreds of millions of people.”
Marc Spilker is also a member of the Board of Directors of The New 42nd Street, Inc., the non-profit organization that oversees the redevelopment of seven historic theaters on 42nd Street and operates the three projects of New 42nd Street Studios, The New Victory Theater and The Duke on 42nd Street.
The Marc and Diane Spilker Foundation was a co-producer of Two Cats Productions' documentary, "Anti-Semitism In The 21st Century: The Resurgence," which aired on PBS.
Spilker was a co-producer of the 2005 film "Romance and Cigarettes".[7]
Personal life
Marc Spilker currently resides in New York City.
