Club career
Bartra moved to FC Barcelona's youth system, La Masia, at age 11, after starting his football formation at Catalonia neighbours RCD Espanyol. After progressing through its ranks, he was promoted to the B team in 2009.[1]
On 14 February 2010, one month after his 19th birthday, Bartra made his debut with the first team, replacing Jeffrén Suárez for the final 30 minutes of the 1–2 loss against Atlético Madrid at the Vicente Calderón Stadium.[2] He started his first La Liga game one year and three months later, playing the full 90 minutes against Deportivo de La Coruña in a 0–0 home draw.[3]
On 21 May 2011, Bartra scored his first goal for Barcelona's first team, helping the side come from behind to win it 3–1 at Málaga CF, in the season's last round.[4]
