Malaaz-ul-Ulama Maulana Syed Hasan Naqvi was a noted Shia Cleric, a direct descendent of the famous Shia Mujtahid Syed Dildar Ali 'Ghufran Ma'ab Nasirabadi'. He was born in India in the year 1935. His father was Maulana Syed Muhammad Naqvi, popularly known as Meeran Sahab, a noted Shia Cleric himself. He studied initially in the famous Madrasa-e-Nazmia of Lucknow. Later on he was admitted in the world famous Sultanul-Madaris in Lucknow. Completing his studies in Lucknow he went to Najaf-e-Ashraf in Iraq for higher studies. There he had the privilege to attend the lectures of scholars like Ayatollah Aqae Khoee and Ayatollah Taba Tabai'. After a stay of almost five years in Iraq he toured East Africa where he preached for many years. His stay in East Africa proved to be very fruitful. There he left his impression on the minds & hearts of the people. Many Christians accepted Islam in Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania impressed by his sermons. He also toured the UK, US and Canada where he addressed Majalis. In the UK he stayed for about eleven years. Later on he came back to Lucknow, his hometown in India. He continued to address Majalis even though he did not keep a good health. Maulana Syed Hasan Naqvi addressed the famous Ashra-e-Majalis at the historic Imambara Jannat Ma'ab in Lucknow. He died on 18 October 1996 due to a renal failure. He was buried at Imambara Jannat Ma'ab.
