Career
Modeling
Mahek started out by taking part and winning in 'Miss Movie International' which is a beauty pageant run in Europe. As a winner, she got a free ticket to Mumbai and then started modeling over there. She has done TV commercials for Mentor Shirts, Godrej Refrigerator, Fevicol, Bombay Dyeing, Bar-One Chocolate.[2] She has also modeled in Punjabi pop singer Jazzy B's music videos for the songs "Sun Ni Kuri" and "Assi Ki Kariye".[3] Mahek has also modelled in Manmohan Waris's hit song "Dil Te Maar Gayi."
Films
Mahek was first considered for a role in Ajnabee but was not selected due to her linguistic shortcomings; the role subsequently went to Bipasha Basu who won all the Debut awards for that year. Chahal then joined Kishore Namit's acting school in Mumbai to work on her skills. She managed to get a Telugu film titled Neetho, but her dialogues in the film were dubbed. In the following year, she made her Bollywood debut with the lead role in Nayee Padosan (2003). She has since then been featured in a number of music videos.
In 2004, she did an item number in Kareena Kapoor starrer Chameli which became widely famous. Chahal next performed in a Punjabi film Dil Apna Punjabi which did decent business. She also played supporting roles in Salman Khan starrer films Wanted and Main Aurr Mrs Khanna (2009). Her song in Wanted is her most famous song so far in her career. Chahal next did an item number in Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol starter Yamla Pagla Deewana which became very popular (2011).
Bigg Boss Season 5
On Day 31, Sky verbally assaulted Mahek Chahal during the argument. Akashdeep Saigal was upset with Mahek Chahal for making negative statement about him in the Bigg Boss house. He went hyperactive when he caught her bad mouthing about him. In a pit of anger, he told her, “I know what you are. I know what you do in Goa. Maine tujhe logon ko nauchte hue dekha hai (I have seen you scratching men)”. He added, “Balbir ko jaanti hai ke nahin? Aage bataaon?” Unable to take on Sky’s assault, Mahek Chahal started screaming and eventually burst into tears. Everybody was stunned with Akashdeep Sehgal’s outrageous behaviour. However, Mahek Chahal broke down in tears after hearing all this. Later, Akashdeep went to Mahek to apologise, but she locked herself inside the bathroom. Later, they resolved their problems in the coming episodes where Amar Upadhyay made them hug each other and Akashdeep said that 'you are like my sister', resulting in they becoming friends again.Later on, Mahek also had a huge fight with Siddharth in which she abuses him and even make him cry.
Television
Currently, she is seen in the fifth season of the reality television show Big Boss 5.
World Tour
She also went on a world tour with Himesh Reshammiya and has performed at various locations, most importantly, the Wembley Arena and the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.
