Sunny Deol was born in
New Delhi ,India , to veteran actorDharmendra and Prakash Kaur. He has a younger brother,Bobby Deol , who is also an actor; two sisters who are settled in California; and two half-sisters,Esha Deol , an actress and Ahana Deol, from his father's re-marriage to actressHema Malini . His wife is Pooja Deol and they have two children. His cousinAbhay Deol is also currently an actor. He always wanted to be an actor being the son of the famous actor, Dharmendra. Sunny finished his schooling from Sacred Heart High School, Santacruz (Mumbai). He attended Podar College in Matunga (Mumbai). Sunny went to England to study acting. He joined Old Web Theatre inBirmingham, England where he studied theatre and acting. He was at the peak of his career during the nineties. As an Actor
Sunny Deol made his acting debut in the Blockbuster movie "
Betaab " in 1983. After some average movies he starred in an action film "Arjun" (1985). He played the role of a jobless angry youth who is forced to become a gangster with guns and knives by circumstances. This role established his image as the action hero of Bollywood. After another period of mixed success, Sunny's breakthrough role came with "Ghayal " (1990) directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. His role of a boxer who fights for his family received cult status. The government of India awarded him a national award for his role of a lawyer in 'Damini'. Many of his films in the action genre including "Tridev " (1989), "Vishwatma " (1992), "Imtihaan " (1995), "" (1996), "Ziddi " (1997), "Border " (1998) and "Indian" (2001) were some of the biggest hits of his career.He has also had success in romantic and dramatic roles in films including "
Chaalbaaz " (1989), "Damini - Lightning " (1993), "Darr " (1993), "Jeet " (1996) and "" (2001).
