Mafraq Hospital

Mafraq Hospital

Mafraq Hospital is situated 35 kilometers southeast of the UAE's capital, Abu Dhabi.

The hospital was built, and opened, in 1983 as the largest tertiary referral treatment hospital in the United Arab Emirates at the time. Nowadays Mafraq Hospital remains a tertiary hospital with 451 licensed beds. The hospital services provided include medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, as well as surgical and critical care services that support the trauma program. Mafraq Hospital operates the largest burn unit in the country and is a Center of Excellence for ENT and Thoracic surgery. The hospital also operates two primary healthcare clinics at Bani Yas and Al Nahda.

Mafraq Hospital is part of the SEHA HealthSystem and is owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA) which is responsible for the curative activities of the public hospitals and clinics of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is managed by Bumrungrad International (BIL), one of the hospital management companies in Asia. BIL is part of the Bumrungrad Group which owns and operates the well regarded Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. Bumrungrad treats over 400,000 foreign patients each year from some 190 countries providing a range of tertiary medical services with over 945 physicians on staff.

A new hospital will be opened in 2013 that will replace the current Mafraq Hospital campus.
