Jerry Colquitt (born June 28, 1972) [1] is a former American football player and coach.

Colquitt was the backup quarterback to Andy Kelly and Heath Shuler at Tennessee from 1990-1993. When Shuler entered the draft following his junior season, Colquitt became Tennessee's starting quarterback.[2]

Seven plays into his first start, Colquitt injured his knee and was out for the rest of his senior season allowing future Colorado Rockies star Todd Helton to take his place at quarterback and later Indianapolis Colts star Peyton Manning. Tennessee tried to persuade the NCAA to restore Colquitt's final year of eligibility, however the NCAA decided not to grant the university's request.[2]

Despite his limited playing time in college, Colquitt was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the 6th round (191st overall pick) of the 1995 NFL Draft. He was waived by the team on August 23, 1995.[3] Colquitt was a member of the Frankfurt Galaxy in 1996, but did not appear in any games for the team.[4]

In 1998, Colquitt was hired by his former offensive coordinator at Tennessee, David Cutcliffe, as recruiting coordinator at Ole Miss. In 1999, he was promoted to director of recruiting, however he left Mississippi two months later to become an offensive assistant and quality control coach with the Seattle Seahawks. He was let go by the team following the 2002 season.[5]
