It was written in the E-Z Draw assembly language by Nasir Gebelli.
In Gorgon, the player flies a spaceship across a side-scrolling landscape while protecting civilians on the ground from aliens that drop down from the top of the screen to try to carry them off.[1]
There was also a version of this game for the PC around the same time period, though it is apparently a rare item today.
