Gordon Ross (rugby union)

Gordon Ross (born 8 March 1978) is a Scottish rugby union footballer who plays fly-half for London Welsh and Scotland. His international appearances have been few and far between, playing understudy to Dan Parks.

Ross represented Edinburgh and Scottish Schools at U16 and U18 level before going on to represent Scotland at U19 and U21. The highlight of his early career was kicking the winning goal for Edinburgh against Biarritz in 1997 and beating England as part of the Scotland U19 squad in the same season. He played a pivotal role in Heriot's FP's second successive club championship in 1999-2000 and was duly rewarded with a professional contract with Edinburgh Reivers.

He gained his first full cap against Tonga in November 2001 and earned a place on the summer tour to North America during which he played in all three midweek victories and was joint top scorer (36 points). After coming back from the tour he joined Leeds Tykes from Edinburgh Reivers. Gordon Ross scored his first test try for Scotland as part of an 18-point haul in the 2003 Rugby World Cup Countdown victory over Italy. He missed the start of the 2003-2004 season due to international duty with Scotland at the Rugby World Cup but still scored 184 points that season from 19 games as first choice kicker.

He was overtaken by Dan Parks of Glasgow Warriors in the race for the number 10 jersey during the Autumn 2005 test series.

He has recently signed for English side London Welsh.
