Gordon Ferguson McPhate is the current Dean of Chester. [1]
Born on 1 June 1950[2] and educated at Aberdeen University and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, after a spell as a tutor in Physiology at Clare College, Cambridge he was ordained in 1979.[3] Later he held lectureships at Guys and St Andrews.[4] He was an honorary curate at Sanderstead[5] then an honorary Minor Canon at Southwark Cathedral[6] and after that an honorary chaplain at St Andrews University[7] before his elevation[8] to the Deanery. [9]
