- Dutch 200
-
Dutch 200 is a ten-pin bowling term used to describe a game in which the bowler scores exactly 200 by throwing strikes and spares in alternating frames. Strikes may be thrown in even frames or odd frames, with spares thrown in the others; either method produces exactly 200 points. When bowled in sanctioned play, the sanctioning body may issue a patch or other award commemorating the feat.
The term is thought to originate from the phrase "Dutch treat" which is when two individuals share the cost of a date.[1]
Rolling a Dutch 200 is not a simple act. If the 10th frame is to be bowled on the non-striking lane, one must roll a strike on the first or third ball.
