It lies in a valley of a stream with the same name, a tributary of the river Sotla, close to the border with Croatia. The area was traditionally part of Lower Styria. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Spodnjeposavska statistical region.[2]
There are two churches in te settlement. The church dedicated to Saint Andrew, known locally as Saint Andrew on the Rocks (Slovene: Sveti Andrej na skalah), is built on a hill to the north of the main part of the settlement known as Doli. It is first mentioned in documents dating to 1545. It was rebuilt in the 17th century and expanded in the 19th century when the belfry was added. The second church lies on a hill amidst vineyards further up the valley to the north west. It is dedicated to the Holy Spirit and is a single nave church built in the 17th century with 18th and 19th century additions. Both belong to the Bizeljsko parish.[3]
