Dr. Louis Saravolatz (born February 17, 1950) is a medical doctor at St. John's Hospital of Macomb County, Michigan. He specializes in infectious disease medicine and internal medicine, specifically in HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and urinary tract infections.^[2]

Early life

Dr. Saravolatz was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 17, 1950. Both of his grandparents were born in Yugoslavia. His Serbian parents grew up in Michigan and had three children. Louis was the middle child. His father owned a grocery store while his mother was a stay-at-home mom. As a Serbian, he grew up in the Serbian Orthodox Church. Louis Saravolatz graduated from Cass Tech High School, and went onto the University of Michigan for his undergraduate, and then to the University of Michigan Medical School. He now lives in Grosse Pointe Shores Michigan with his wife and three children.

Career

Dr. Saravolatz applied for his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. After completing his residency, he worked at Henry Ford Hospital for 16 years. He then joined the staff at St. John Hospital in Macomb County. He currently works at St. John as a teacher and a medical doctor specializing in HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and Urinary tract infection|urinary track infections.^[2]

Recognition

Dr. Saravolatz is the current Chief of Internal Medicine at St. John Hospital Macomb and is the president-elect of the Michigan Infectious Disease Society (MIDS).^[2][3] In 2004, Hour Detroit magazine recognized him as one of metro Detroit's most respected physicians for infectious disease in its listing of "Top Docs." He has also recently accepted this award in the 2008 magazine of Top Docs. Louis Saravolatz is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School.^[2]
