Division II: 1995-96, 1997-98Douglas George Ross (born October 9, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan) is a retired American college ice hockey player and former college ice hockey head coach. Ross was a member of the American team at the 1976 Winter Olympics. Ross coached the club program at Ohio University Bobcats for one season in 1976-1977.[1] Next he moved to Kent State Golden Flashes ice hockey team for two season from 1979-1981. Ross became head coach at the University of Alabama in Huntsville starting in the 1982 season. Under Ross, Alabama-Huntsville won the US National Club Championship in 1983 and 1984, and in 1985 was the runner-up.[2] Ross led the Chargers to two NCAA Division II men's ice hockey championships in 1996 and 1998.[3] He coached the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers ice hockey program for 25 years before retiring in 2007.

Doug Ross is listed in the Top 20 and Top 50 NCAA hockey coaches with the most wins. He is listed in 13th place with 510 wins, 304 losses and 45 ties.
At Bowling Green State University Doug was the highest scoring right wing in the nation in 1975 and nominated for the All-Century Team.
At Oakland Community College in 1973 Doug was voted the MJCHA Tournament MVP.
In 2007 he received the USA Hockey Distinguished Service Award.
In 2002-2003 Doug was named the College Hockey America Coach of the Year.
In 1998 Doug was named the State of Alabama Collegiate Coach of the Year (Sington Award).
