It has one runway of 2,056 meters. It was recently declared an international airport, but only to countries nearby or which share borders with Tanzania. The airport only flies ATR flights. It is just north of the city center in Maliwai,Dodoma. It has an elevation of 3,673 feet.

Expansion
There are plans of expanding the current airport to at least handle a Boeing 777-400 flight. There are also plans to demolish this airport and build an airport with a 4,000 meter runway. Also,there are plans to build a new terminal for this airport along with a new terminal like the Julius Nyerere International Airport.
