Critical reception
The film opened with mixed reviews all over Kerala.
- Nowrunning gave a below average rating by giving it and said "Falling in love is more of a ploy in Dr. Love that has little to do with the forces of nature. You design and scheme with all your might, as if the object of your affection is your gravest enemy on earth."[1]
- Rediff gave a below average review with a rating of and said "Dr Love is yet another campus film".[2]
- Sify rated the movie as below average and said "Dr.Love tries to present all those masala once again, but it looks amateurish to the core. Watch it at your own risk please."[3]
- At The Movie World commented the film as 'not bad' and added "Dr. Love, for most of its running time is unrealistic to the core, and even of you keep its central protagonist out of the picture, what remains is not quite workable either - like for instance, the last half an hour of the film, when it turns out to be even more and more impractical. The director of Doctor Love, K.Biju seems to be still living in the 2000's mood, and this is evident throughout the film."[4]
- Metromatinee gave the movie a positive review and said "'Doctor Love' is not a biggie campus entertainer like Classmates, Niram etc, but watchable if you are free. Though it has nothing new but Dr Love is lovable..."[5]
- Indiaglitz gave an average review and said "All in all,' Dr.Love' has some interesting moments and the ensemble star cast pitches in real performances too. On the whole, the movie could' be an ideal popcorn flick targeted to strike a chord with the youth and those who relish candy floss and madcap entertainers. If you are not looking for wisdom and rationale in a light-hearted entertainer, We are sure you will savour this campus carnival."[6]
