Dilawar Cheema (Punjabi, Urdu: دلاور چيمه) is a small town in Tehsil Wazirabad, District Gujranwala,[1] Punjab, Pakistan. It is located in a central area between Ali Pur Chatta, Wazirabad and Gujranwala.[2] It is also one of the well known Union Councils in Distt. Gujranwala. Historically it was one of the biggest villages in Distt. Gujranwala however, later on some new villages emerged from it, for example Dilawar Khurd was part of it and its separation resulted in a new name of village Dilawar Cheema Kalan. Howevere, this town kept its old name and is still known as Dilawar Cheema instead of Dilawar Cheema Kalan. It has a population around 10,000 which comprise mostly on Jatt Cheema however Baryar, Awan, Pathan, Rana, Luk, Kashmiri, Ansari and others castes also show their presence. This town is well served by roads and railways (Jamkey Chatta & Dharowal Railway Station serve it). Dilawar Cheema is the last town of Cheema tribe community in Gujranwala and the next town, Jamkey Chatta, is the starting point of Chattha tribe community. Ahmad Nagar, another popular town, is on eastern side of Dilawar Cheema wherein most notable personality (Ch. Hamid Nasir Chattha) of the district resides. Ahmad Nagar Police Station serves as the local Police Station.

Education
Dilawa Cheema provides standard education to the local students with the help of Government and privately establishedschools and . It has all the ammenties one can think of i.e. both boys and girls High Schools, PTCL phone,[3] mobile phone service, Sub Health centre, animal hospital, agriculture centre, a commercial bank, utility store, post office. Residents have the access to direct transport for Lahore, Rawalpindi, Wazirabad, Gujranwala and Alipur Chatta.
Dilawar Cheema has most sects of Muslims (Sunni, Shia, Ahl-e-Hadees, etc..) and Christians. Every sect has their mosques, Imam Bargah and Christian have their church as well. Most impressive thing is their peaceful coexistence. it has four deras, dera zaildaran(Muhalla Choudhary), dera badshahan,dera numberdaran,dera baryaran. It has a shrine of locally known Pir Abdullah Shah, who is believed to be a SUFI and FAQIR and is believed to be the one who converted the landlord of this town to Islam and given him the name of "DILAWAR CHEEMA", which then became the name of this town. The town has the Mizar of Baba Dilawar Cheema as well.
Notable people
Dilawr Cheema has produced some notable personalities like Moen Qurashi (former prime minister of Pakistan), Abdul Ghani Shouq (writer of Qissa Heer Ranjha), Mian Muhammad Din (writer of Mirza Sahibaan) and Ch. Nazar Muhammad Cheema (zaildar during British Rule) who was the brother of Ch. Atta Muhammad Cheema. This town has produced some professionals in different fields as well like Dr. Faisal Cheema, Shahbaz Ahmad Cheema Advocate, Nasir Abbas Awan Advocate (LL.M London), Asif Nawaz Cheema Advocate and Rana Ijaz Advocate etc.. Akram Luck, Husnain Mohsin Cheema are known social workers.
Dilawar Cheema has large area for cultivation and extends up to River Chanab which separate it from Gujrat. Main produces of this town are wheat and rice. People of the town are hardworking and many of them are source of foreign exchange as they live and work abroad.
