(1968)Diana Ross & the Supremes Sing and Perform "Funny Girl" is a 1968 cover album of songs from the Broadway musical Funny Girl, released by Diana Ross & the Supremes on the Motown label. Motown had Ross and the Supremes cover the Funny Girl songs (several of which were to appear on their shelved 1965 album There's a Place for Us) to tie-in with the September release of the feature-film version of the musical. The LP was not a success, and, with a Billboard 200 peak of 150, ranks as the lowest-charting of the Diana Ross-led Supremes albums. That said, it was praised by the composer, Jules Styne as one of the finest renditions of his score after the Broadway cast and movie soundtrack albums.
The ladies performed a wonderful medley of songs from the album in the style of the Broadway show on the Ed Sullivan show. Diana's natural acting and comedic talents shines through as the ladies compliment her performance.
