Himni i FlamuritCapital Tirana Language(s) Albanian Government Provisional Prime Minister Enver Hoxha Historical era WWII / Cold War - Establishment October 20, 1944 - People's Republic January 11, 1946 Currency Albanian lek As the Albanian partisan resistance of 1940-1944 came to a close, a provisional Democratic Government of Albania was established on October 20, 1944 by a second meeting of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation Council. It fully took power after the liberation of the country from German forces on November 28. Its interim Prime Minister was First Secretary Enver Hoxha of the Communist Party of Albania. The interim government was to be in existence until the holding of democratic elections and the convening of a Constituent Assembly. Elections for a new Republic were held on December 2, 1945, and on January 11, 1946 the People's Republic of Albania was proclaimed.
