(verify) Flupentixol/melitracen (trade name Deanxit, Anxidreg) is a combination of two psycho-active agents which has antidepressant properties. This drug should be taken within bounds if allowed by a specialist. It is supposed for short term usage only. It is produced by a Denmark company called Lundbeck.[1]
It has been reported in the media that the Indian government is considering to ban the sale of this drug. The reasons were Deanxit is banned for use in the country of its origin, Denmark; the US FDA, drug authorities in UK, Canada, Australia and Japan have not approved this drug either. For such a drug, no clinical trials were carried out in India.[2]
