Dead River (Michigan) Origin Michigan Mouth Lake Superior Basin countries United States Length 35 miles[1] The Dead River is a river in Marquette County, Michigan.[2] Its watershed is approximately 400 square miles (1,000 km2) in size.[2] The river flows southeasterly from western Marquette County to its mouth on Lake Superior.[1]
As of 2003[update], five dams existed on the river:[1] Silver Lake Dam, Hoist Dam, McClure Dam, Forestville Dam, and Tourist Park Dam. Hoist and McClure are hydroelectric dams.[3] Silver Lake and Tourist Park failed in May 2003.
