De Westereen (standard West Frisian: De Westereen, Dutch: Zwaagwesteinde) is a village in the Dantumadiel municipality of Friesland, in the Netherlands and has around the 5164 citizens (2007).

Name

The name De Westereen is official since January 1, 2009. It is the name of the village in the local Frisian language (no dialect!) spoken there. The West Frisian name of the village is De Westerein. The Dutch name Zwaagwesteinde was the official one before 2009.
