Paul won Canadian Golden Gloves flyweight title in 1935. He is a member of the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame. He had over 50 professional fights in his career. He also was a Physical Training Officer in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. After the war he also went into retail business.
Personal life
He was married to Dorothy Jura (1918–1986) in 1938, and had two sons, Martin and Brian.
