She is most notable as being the first Maori contestant to win the title.

New Zealand's Next Top Model
Hayes first came to notice as a contestant and the eventual winner of New Zealand's Next Top Model, Cycle 2 beating runner up Michaela Steenkamp for the title.[2]
Hayes's prizes included an eight-page editorial in CLEO Magazine, a 1 year contract with CoverGirl cosmetics, representation by agency 62 Models, an all expense paid trip to Sydney to meet Chic Model Management, a trip to Los Angeles to meet with NEXT Model Management, and a brand new Ford Fiestas.
Career
Hayes is currently signed with 62 Models in Auckland, New Zealand.[3]After the show Hayes has been in many magazine editorials and has stomped the runway. Danielle has been seen in Cleo Magazine, Metro Magazine(cover), The Dominion Post Autumn/Winter Magazine, Black Magazine, Remix Magazine and more. She has walked for designers at the New Zealand Fashion Festival such as Annah Stretton, Ricochet, Vanilla Ink, Tanya Carlson and Matchi Motchi, Hayes was also seen at the Fashion For Relief Runway Show in Christchurch. Danielle has photographed with many photographers to build her portfolio such as Gregory Novak, Damien Nikora, Adam Custins, Jenna Jamieson, David Shields, Calypso Paoli and Juan Mon. Danielle has signed with Chic Models in Sydney and will be heading overseas to Sydney sometime in June. Hayes has met with an agent from IMG Paris and still has to meet with an agent at Next Models LA.
