Dr. Daniel F. Muzyka is currently the Dean of the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, a position that he has held since 1999.[1][2]

Prior to joining Sauder, Dr. Muzyka was the IAF Professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD in France and also served as Associate Dean of the MBA program there.[3][4]

Dr. Muzyka has previous experience in finance and corporate strategy at the General Electric Company, and spent five years as a strategy consultant, primarily with Braxton Associates in Boston.

Dr. Muzyka has served on the advisory boards of Siemens and Chrysalix (a venture capital fund investing in the alternative energy sector). He previously chaired the Vancouver Board of Trade[5], a non-profit organization which seeks to "promote, enhance and facilitate the development of the region as a Pacific centre for trade, commerce and travel."[6] In 2008, Muzyka was appointed to the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.[7]

Before pursuing a career in business, Dr. Muzyka worked as a research associate in the field of astrophysics for a number of organizations, including the NASA-Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Germany and the Owens Valley Radio Observatory.

Dr. Muzyka has a BA from Williams College in Astrophysics, an MBA from the Wharton School, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.[8]

Muzyka has served as a guest columnist at The Globe and Mail, writing opinion pieces in the Report on Business section of the paper.[9] He has also written a number of books on the topics of business, entrepreneurship and corporate strategy.[10][11]. Muzyka is the author of the films: "Mobilizing for Growth - Entrepreneurship within Companies" and "Project Management" on videomanagement.com.[12]
