Dalton was a right-handed batsman who bowled left-arm medium pace. He was born at Oxford, Oxfordshire.

Dalton represented the Warwickshire Cricket Board in List A cricket. His debut List A match came against Berkshire in the 1999 NatWest Trophy. From 1999 to 2002, he represented the Board in 8 matches, the last of which came against Herefordshire in the 1st round of the 2003 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy, which was held in 2002.[1] In his 8 List A matches, he scored 126 runs at a batting average of 15.75, with a high score of 46. In the field he took a single catch.[2] With the ball he took 10 wickets at a bowling average of 21.00, with best figures of 3/16.[3]
