Ingstad Family Media

Ingstad Family Media is a broadcasting company in Valley City, North Dakota. The home offices are at 232 3rd St. NE, Valley City. As its name suggests, it has been owned by members of the Ingstad family, originally dating back to the beginning in the 1930s.

Robert Ingstad started in the family business by owning several radio stations with his wife Janice, including the flagship radio station of the Ingstad family, KOVC, which was put on the air in 1936 by his father Robert Ingstad Sr.

Robert Jr. died on May 4, 2007, and his widow Janice continues to own and operate the stations.

James Ingstad is also the founder of Radio Fargo-Moorhead, Inc. They are also related to former American Top 40 host and KROQ-FM founder Shadoe Stevens (born Terry Ingstad). Radio Fargo-Moorhead owns KVOX-AM, KFGO, WDAY-FM, KBVB, KRWK and KMJO in Fargo, North Dakota.

Two other family businesses include; Ingstad Brothers Broadcasting, which owns KNUJ, KDUZ, KARP-FM, KCHK and KYMN and Iowa City Broadcasting Company, Inc. (100% owned by Tom Ingstad), with stations in Morris, Montevideo, Willmar and Thief River Falls, all in Minnesota.

Ingstad Family Media owns stations in North Dakota and South Dakota. They currently own and operate stations under licensee names Two Rivers Broadcasting, Sioux Valley Broadcasting, James River Broadcasting and Dakota Radio Group.
