History

Creative Boom[2] was launched on 24 July 2009 and created by Boomerang, a UK-based digital PR agency[3].

The idea for Creative Boom came about after its founder Katy Cowan spoke to other freelancers and small businesses on Twitter and realised there was a need for a creative community online. Somewhere people could meet, greet, share ideas, raise their profiles and secure more work.

Since its inception, Creative Boom has been recognised by some of the UK's biggest organisations, including Creative England and Arts Council England. Its founder Katy Cowan has been interviewed by BBC 6Music and has appeared in various national press, including The Independent, Computer Arts and The Guardian.

Staff

Creative Boom is run by its founder and editor Katy Cowan, a trained journalist and writer from Cheshire, UK. It also has a team of contributors and writers, volunteering their time to benefit from being part of the magazine.

Contributors include James Whitworth - a cartoonist from Sheffield, Manchester fashion photographer Matthew Stansfield[4], Staffordshire freelance designer and illustrator Stina Jones[5] and Victoria Baker, a photographer and writer from Brighton.[6]
