Early life
Tanner was born in San Diego, California and raised in the small town of Roseburg, Oregon. Tanner is a graduate of The Air Force Academy and served as a film editor for the armed forces for eight years.[1] It was not until Tanner was put in charge of filming and editing plays as a coach for the Air Force football team that he developed an interest in making movies.[2]
After his military career, Craig Tanner went on to edit feature films. He found editing internships with Warner Bros. after the Air force and continued to work in post-production. In 2005, Craig Tanner was nominated for an Oscar and received an Emmy for the documentary God Sleeps in Rwanda.[2] Then, in 2010, after working as a Visual Effects Editor for Avatar, Craig co-founded Digital Revolution Studios, LLC.
Career
As Visual Effects Editor on Avatar[3] Tanner assisted in the creation of the complex live-action and motion capture hybrid post-production pipeline for James Cameron.[citation needed]
By collaborating with other leading experts in 3D research and development, Tanner has designed and created 3D cameras and equipment for Digital Revolution Studios. With the help of his production crew, he has produced, directed and edited various content for small and larger venues, from wildlife and nature clips to commercials to an independent feature length film.[4]
