Count of Penaguião

Count of Penaguião
Coat of Arms of the family, Counts of Penaguião, Marquesses of Fontes and Marquesses of Abrantes.

Count of Penaguião (in Portuguese Conde de Penaguião) was a Portuguese title of nobility, granted by a decree issued by King Philip I of Portugal, on 10 February 1583, to Dom João Rodrigues de Sá.

This family also acquired the marquisate of Fontes in 1659, which was exchanged by the marquisate of Abrantes in 1718.

By a special decree of King John V of Portugal issued in 24 June 1718, Count of Penaguião became a title automatically granted to the Marquis of Abrantes' heir.
