He was born in 1895. He graduated with a Military Qualification certificate from
Royal Military College of Canada inKingston, Ontario in 1915. He served with the Royal Canadian Army in France from 1915-17. He was was Vice Chief of the General Staff from 1942-4. He served as chief of the General Staff, 1944-5.He died in 1966References
