Cooper Tools is a division of Cooper Industries, a Houston-based manufacturing company. It is composed of Cooper Hand Tools and Cooper Power Tools, which manufacture hand tools and power tools respectively.

Cooper Hand Tools

The Cooper Hand Tools division is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is made up of 14 brands:[1][2]

  • Campbell—Manufactures chains and clamps. Winner of the "Member's Choice" award for Best New Program at the Do It Best Fall Market in Indianapolis for its chain accessories.[3]
  • Caulkmaster—Pneumatic dispensing guns.
  • Crescent—Produces general hand tools and tool sets. Namesake of the "Crescent wrench," a common genericized trademark for a style of adjustable wrench. Winner of Popular Mechanics' 2006 Breakthrough Award for its Rapid-Slide variant.[4] Acquired in 1968.
  • Diamond—Horseshoes and farrier tools.
  • Erem—Precision pliers.
  • H.K. Porter—Bolt and cable cutters.
  • Kahnetics—Dispensing systems.
  • Lufkin—Manufactures measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, and measuring tapes. Lufkin was the conglomerate's first hand tool acquisition in 1967.
  • Nicholson—Produces files, rasps, and saws. Acquired in 1972.
  • Plumb—Striking tools, such as hammers, axes, and chisels. Acquired in 1980.
  • Weller—Soldering tools. Acquired in 1970.
  • Wire-wrap—Electrical connection equipment.
  • Wiss—Scissors and snips. Acquired in 1976.
  • Xcelite—Electronics tools such as general and specialized screwdrivers and pliers. Acquired in 1973.

Cooper Power Tools

The Cooper Power Tools division is headquartered in Lexington, South Carolina. It is made up of the Airetool, Apex, Buckeye, Cleco, Cooper Automation, DGD, Doler, Dotco, Gardner Denver, Geta, Master Power, Metronix, Quackenbush, Recoules, and Rotor brands.[5]
