Arkansas Highway 549

Highway 549 is the temporary designation of Future Interstate 49 southeast of Texarkana. Designated a distance of approximately 29 miles, Highway 549 first opened to traffic in December 2004 between Texarkana and Fouke. A second section, between Fouke, and Doddridge, opened October 21, 2005.

Its northern terminus is at Highway 245 along the Loop, roughly 1.5 miles east of South State Line Avenue and the border with Texas. Its southern terminus is currently at U.S. Highway 71 approximately 4 miles north of the Louisiana State Line. Construction is not complete between US-71 and the state line.
