Colin Van Ostern (born February 14, 1979) is a business manager at Stonyfield Farm and a Democratic candidate for the New Hampshire Executive Council (District 2) in 2012.
Early life, education and career
Van Ostern was born in California and moved more than 11 times before heading to college. He graduated from George Washington University with a concentration in international security policy in 2000.[1]
Prior to moving to New Hampshire, Van Ostern worked in Washington, D.C. as a producer for the national public affairs television show The McLaughlin Group and as a legislative aide in the U.S. Congress.[1]
New Hampshire life and career
Van Ostern moved to New Hampshire in 2001. He currently lives in Concord and works for Stonyfield Farm managing the Brown Cow line of natural yogurt as well as Stonyfield's food service and discount club operations.[2]
In 2004, he started a business consulting firm called Washington Street Consulting. As the Principal of his consulting firm, Van Ostern advised over 30 nonprofits and small businesses, including the Concord communications firm Louis Karno and Co., Canterbury Shaker Village and the New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program.[2]
In 2009, Van Ostern received an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where he also worked as the Associate Director of Public Relations.[1]
Van Ostern has worked for a number of elected officials and candidates for public office in New Hampshire, including serving as manager of Ann McLane Kuster's 2010 campaign to represent New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district.[1][2]
