Location
The 2 cities that are protected are in Clark County, Wisconsin and are just West of Highway 13. Up until 2008, the police headquarters, the fire station, and the Abbotsford city hall were all combined into one building in the central area of Abbotsford. But a town square was created in 2007 and the city hall was transferred to this location. Most of the former elementary school was then demolished and an addition was then added on to the high-school and this then became the new elementary school. The former elementary school was then rebuilt and the 2 sections that were added then became the Abbotsford Fire Department on the East section, and the West was then transformed into the new Colby-Abbotsford Police Department headquarters.
Police Cars and Animals
The department currently has 9 police cars, 2 of which are K-9 units. Three of thee cars are Ford Crown Victorias, three Ford Fusions, one Ford Mustang which is used by the captain, and one Ford 4x4 that is used as the new K-9 unit. The department also has one K-9 that is frequentley used to search for drugs and is occasionally used for search and rescue. The dog is named Jango and his handler is Officer Brian Rennie.
Destruction of Police Property
In 2010, officer Rennie was arresting a suspect when he was attacked by the man who had been using drugs. As Rennie was getting the suspect out of the new K-9 unit, the man kicked out a window and attacked him. Rennie tried to let Jango out of his cage but closed the car door before the dog could get on the attacker. In a rage, the dog destroyed the interior of the K-9 unit when trying to help his handler. The man was subdued with assistance from the Clark County Sheriff's Department.
