Personal life
Wood was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico and grew up in Phoenix where he attended Monte Vista Elementary, Esperanza Elementary School, and Arizona School for the Arts. In August 2000, Wood and his family relocated to Weston, Massachusetts where he attended Weston Public High. His senior year he was concertmaster of the orchestra, senior class president, and was the starting safety on the varsity football team.
In May 2008, Wood graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Music.[4] He studied violin and voice at The Cleveland Institute of Music, sister school to CWRU, with Dr. Carol Ruzicka[5] and Cynthia Wohlschlager.[6] During his time at Case Western he served as class treasurer for two years,[7] was a member of the Case Concert Choir and Case Symphony Orchestra, and made the Dean's Honors and High Honors Lists.
As an undergraduate student at Case Western Reserve University, Wood was published as co-author of the chapter "Fundamentals of Design for Synthetic Biology"[8] in the collegiate textbook "Systems Bioinformatics: An Engineering Case-Based Approach"[9] edited by Gil Alterovitz[10] and Marco F. Ramoni (Artech House 2007).
Wood’s premier as a solo vocal artist was in February 2006 with the Northcoast Jazz Collective.[11] He released his debut album "Nothin' to It" in August 2008 and relocated to Los Angeles, California.[12] Since then he has performed all over the country and continues to gain momentum and recognition as a vocalist and songwriter.[13]
Cody also plays in the novel adaptation of "Water for Elephants". He was originally cast in a small supporting role as a violinist. The role was removed from the script and he was added to the film as an extra.
