Enrique "Coco" Alberto Vicéns Sastre Born c. 1943
Ciales, Puerto RicoNationality Puerto Rican Occupation Politician Enrique "Coco" Alberto Vicéns Sastre was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico. His brother was Juan "Pachín" Vicéns. He was a senator-at-large in the Puerto Rico State Legislature from 1973 until 1978.[1] He is a member of Phi Sigma Alpha fraternity.[2] He played for the Leones de Ponce basketball team.[3]
By 1952 he was a Captain in the Army in Fort Buchanan in the 296 Regiment.[4] In 1970 he was part of the medical staff that accompanied the Puerto Rico Delegation to the 1970 Central American and Caribbean Games.[5]
He served as a Municipal Legislator in Ponce in the 2004-2008 elections.[6]
Legacy
In 1966 he was selected to the Puertorican Basketball Hall of fame and in 1993 he was included in the Ciales Sports Hall of Fame.[4]
During the 1990s the "Centro Recreativo y Cultural Enrique Vicéns" was established by the municipal government being mayor of Ponce Rafael Cordero Santiago, located in La Guancha Recreational and Cultural Complex.[7][8]
