Cockroach plant

The cockroach plant (also known as Actimpatli, Atempatli, Cockroachplant, Hierba de la Cucaracha, and Raiz de la Cucaracha) is three closely related species (Haplophyton cimicidum, Haplophyton cinereum, and Haplophyton crooksii) of perennial shrub native to Central America and the American Southwest. The plant's common name derives from its leaf extracts and sap, which contain many insecticidal compounds particularly effective against cockroaches.
