Clixtr

Clixtr Inc. is a startup company based in San Francisco, California. The Clixtr iPhone application was selected as one of the top 50 startups of 2009 by TechCrunch. Clixtr launched at TechCrunch50 on September 15, 2009[1]. Clixtr received venture capital funding from DFJ in March 2009.

Clixtr is a location-based service photo sharing platform which allows its users to create geo-tagged events and upload mobile photos to those events in real time. Multiple users are able to upload their photos to one event. Because Clixtr uses the iPhone GPS, Clixtr users create instant, location-aware, group photo albums which nearby users can contribute their own photos to.

In December 2009, the San Francisco based startup was a finalist for the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal's Emerging Technology Awards held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, where they won in the Social Networking category.[2][3].

In January 2010, Clixtr made it as a semifinalist for the online portion of the Mobile Apps Showdown competition at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Out of the 20 semifinalists, 10 finalists were chosen to be in the live competition for the Mobile Apps Showdown[4]. Clixtr was the winner of the live portion, which was chosen by the audience through an applause-o-meter[5].
