City Park West is a neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. It is in the area known as East Denver, or the "East Side". According to the Piton Foundation, in 2007, the population of the neighborhood was 4,120 and there were 2,734 housing units.[1] The racial makeup of the neighborhood in the year 2000 was 30.39% non-hispanic white, 47.51% African American, 18.23% Hispanic or Latino, 1.38% Native American, and 2.49% Asian.[2]
Boundaries
The neighborhood is bordered on the west by Downing Street, on the north by 23rd Avenue, on the east by York Street, and on the south by Colfax Avenue.
Landmarks
17th Avenue and 18th Avenue cross the neighborhood from east to west and are busy, one-way streets that serve as arterials to bring people in and out of downtown Denver. City Park is on the eastern border of the neighborhood. The neighborhood is dominated by single-family houses, apartment blocks, and medical offices. Two of Denver's major hospitals are in the neighborhood: Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital and Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center.
