Mission
Citadel records became the first publisher to inform music community about the existence of united Russian electronic music scene. One of the main aims of the company is to promote creative works by original and talented contemporary composers. For more than 10 years already the creative union of the artists Moscow Grooves Institute, Second Hand Band, That Black, Olga Noel, Eject Project, Dub Chairman, ULA, DSM Formation, RA/BА Mutantъ, Alexandroid, THE:HET and many others has been creating the most up-to-date music wave appreciated not only in Russia, but all over the world. The distinctive trait of the record label is the impeccable quality of artist’s work as well as its high creative potential and commercial success.
History
Citadel records first MC releases were “Toxotes Jaculator” by Esclavos Del Futuro and “Surround Wednesday” by Moscow Grooves Institute. Later on several compilations of Russian underground techno and progressive drum-n-bass were released. Such headliners of Russian electronic music as DJ Compass-Vrubell, DJ Fish, DJ Magic B, DJ O!, TETRIS, DJ Anton Kubikov (aka SCSI9), DSM Formation, DJ Meshkov (aka Noon Cat), Cocoon Upoverload, Alex-Under and many others cooperated with Citadel at the beginning of their musical career.
Citadel records started releasing CD disks in 1999. Among the first exclusives were: ambient masterpiece “Real time” by Eject Project, electronic funk experiment “Pizza” by the leading Citadel’s band Moscow Grooves Institute, 2 Avacados with hypnotic “Too deep” album etc. CD format helped to raise the quality of artists’ sound and widen the distribution borders. Since 2005 one of the main goals of Citadel records label is to develop digital distribution – both in Russia and abroad.
Now Citadel records catalogue consists of more than 400 tracks. The label represents such projects as Moscow Grooves Institute, Second Hand Band, OLF, Eject Project, THE:HET, RЯ/БА Mutant, Alexandroid, ULA, That Black, DSM Formation, Pavel Tukki, 2 Avосаdos etc.
Citadel records and world music community
Citadel is regularly taking part in international music markets and festivals among which are:

- PopKomm (Germany, Berlin)
- Qwartz (France, Paris)
- London Calling (Great Britain, London)
- Amsterdam Dance Event (The Netherlands, Amsterdam)
Citadel records has rich experience of fruitful collaboration with international partners. It cooperates with such reputed music publishers as Netimage Foundation, Cooking Rec, MPLS Ltd, Pork Recordings, Good Looking Rec, George V records, Rambling Records etc.
In 2005 Highnote Records label (Honking) released a compilation of Citadel records music named “Trendy eastern”.
In 2006 a reputed Petrol records label from Australia released a compilation “The sex. The city. The music”, where Citadel’s artists were representing Moscow. At the same time Flip Entertainment label released a CD “Moscow grooves. Kicks and twilight 1-2” in Japan.
Since 2008 Citadel cooperates with FEEL music company that releases Russian music on the territory of South Korea.
