The church came into existence in 1837 at the time of the Goan schism when some Catholic families withdrew from their Parish Milagres Church and acknowledged the jurisdiction of the Vicar Apostolic of Verapoly. They built a church only a few yards away from the Milagres Church. Since then it has undergone alterations and additions. It is strategically located close to the NH 66.
Today, the church can boast of having more than 400 families as its parishioners. This is largely due to the development of infrastructural projects in and around the area, and its proximity to markets, shops, banks, hospital (Goretti Hospital), educational institutions. In addition to this, the Church runs the Mount Rosary English school which has made its name known in the District, due to the impressive results in academic, sports and extra curricular activities. The Church also has its own function hall (Mount Rosary Millennium Hall) & Commercial complex.
