Chris Roper is a South African columnist, editor and journalist. He is currently editor of the Mail & Guardian Online.

Life and career

He was born on October 29, 1961 in Cape Town and graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1989 with a BA (Hons).

Roper was the founding portal manager of Vodacom World Online in 1998 and from 2000 was portal manager at MWeb.

He moved to 24.com in 2007 where he was portal manager for MWEB Africa, Social Media editor and Editor-in-Chief.

He assumed his position as editor of Mail & Guardian Online in 2009.[1].
