Dr. Christophe Wiart has been studying the medicinal plants of India, Southeast Asia and China for the last 16 years. He has collected, identified and classified several hundred species of medicinal plants and he is regarded as the most prominent authority in the field of Asian ethnopharmacology, chemotaxonomy and ethnobotany. Based in the School of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Nottingham (Malaysia Campus)^[1], he currently supervises several PhD students working on the discovery of novel antibacterial, anticancer, and antioxidant principles from rare plants from the rainforest of Southeast Asia.

Research Interest

Ethnopharmacology of medicinal plants in Asia Pacific^[2]; bioprospection, collection and identification of medicinal botanical samples and phytochemical and pharmacological study for the identification of lead compounds.
