Christianity is a minority in Arunachal Pradesh, a state of Northeastern India bordering to China. Hindus form the majority in the state. The state belongs to the area of the diocese of North East India of the Church of North India. [1] The Roman Catholic Diocese of Itanagar and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Miao have their seat in the state. The state is an area of rapid growth of Roman Catholicism in recent years. [2] Christian missionary activity is not allowed in Arunachal Pradesh. [3] The state has more than 10 % Christians. [4] Arunachal has an anti-conversion law since 1978. [5] Apatani Christian Fellowship is present in the state. [6] Christianity is present there since the 19th century. [7] Among the Christians in the state there is a literacy rate higher than the rate in the statepopulation at large. [8]
