Chris Flynn is a writer, reviewer and current Books Editor at The Big Issue Australia. He is also fiction consultant [1] at Australian Book Review and contributes a regular column, Odd Jobs, on The Paris Review Daily, the blog page of The Paris Review. Flynn was formerly editor of Torpedo, a Melbourne-based fiction quarterly that ran for seven issues, from 2007-2010.[2] Torpedo was the first Australian magazine to appear on the Amazon Kindle ebook store.[3] Flynn writes book reviews for The Big Issue, Australian Book Review, The Age, The Australian and the Book Show[4] on ABC Radio National. His short fiction has appeared in Griffith Review, Meanjin, Going Down Swinging and The Lifted Brow. He has written articles and conducted interviews for SBS Documentary,[5] Nuke, The Millions,[6] The Reader, harvest, Bad Idea, Ampersand and Dumbo Feather. He was a former staff writer at Swindle magazine.
Flynn is on the Programming Advisory Group for the Melbourne Writer's Festival and presents events at the festival annually. He was co-curator and presenter of Dog's Tales, a weekly storytelling night in St Kilda, Melbourne throughout 2010.
Flynn's first novel, A Tiger in Eden will be released in Australia by Text Publishing in March 2012.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1972, Flynn has resided in Melbourne, Australia since 1999.
