Spoone attended Northeast Senior High School and Catonsville Community College. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 36th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft and by the Orioles in the 8th round (243rd overall) of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft.
On July 19, 2011, the Orioles designated Spoone for assignment.[1]
