Chitti annavaram Lord Sri Sathya narayana swamy temple in the Chittoor District which is situated in Madanapalle town of Andhra Pradesh in India. The popularity and importance of the Annavaram temple situated in East Godavari District is considered as second only to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.[citation needed]

Anna means whatever you say or you desire and varam means boon, hence whatever you desire will be given as boon by the deity.

The most distinctive feature of Chitti Annavaram is that adoration of Lord Sri Uma Maheshwara Swamy, Lord Sri Satyanarayana Swamy and Sri Ananta-lakshmi Ammavaru on one Peetham, which shows and speaks of the one-ness of both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

The most distinctive feature of Annavaram is the shrine to Lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy on the hill top. The name of the Goddess is Ananta-lakshmi Satyavathi Ammavaru.

Bangalore-kadapa State Highway passes via Chitti annavaram. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operating regular bus services from all the important places to Madanapalle including Tirupati-Bangalore via Madanapalle, and Chittiannavaram is situated on the Bangalore road in Chippili village. Distance from Madanapalle bus-stand to Chittiannavaram temple is 2.5 km on bangalore road.

Annavaram Temple

National Highway (NH)-5 pass via Annavaram. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) operates regular bus services from Kakinada to Tuni, Rajahmundry to Tuni, and Yele-swaram to Tuni via Annavaram. Important trains links of the South Central Railways (SCR) passing through are the Vijayawada-Vishakapatnam Ratnachal superfast express, the Chennai-Howrah Mail, Kolkata-Chennai halt at Annavaram, which is the nearest railway station about 2 miles from the temple. The temple, situated on the hill top is about four furlongs away from its base. It can be reached either by steps covered with canopy, via ghat road or trekked through a rusty stone paved trail road.

The popularity and importance of the temple is gaining among the pilgrims and this place is considered as second only to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Festivals are celebrated round the year at this temple with great pomp and show. Some of the popular festivals celebrated are the Kalyanam festival in May, Devi Navaratri festival in September, the Swayamvara Vardhanti of Sraavana Suddha Ekadashi Day, Srirama Kalyana, Kanakadurga Yatra, Prabha Utsavam, Teppa Utsavam and Jalatoranam.

The serene atmosphere of the temple and its surroundings captivate devotees of Lord Veera Venkata Satya-narayana Swamy. The prasadam offered to the devotees has a wonderful taste that cannot be replicated.

History

According to the puranas, the presiding deity Lord Sri Sathyanarayana Swamy of the place blesses the devotees with Anina Varam (means Wanted Boon), later the place is now called popularly Annavaram (EG Dist).

The sacred cause of consrtucting the Sri Sathyanarayana swamy temple in Chittiannavaram is that of Godly Intuition to the two office barriers (members) of the Akhila Brahmana Seva Samakya in dream during their stay in Annavaram (EG Dist) in connection with the Andhra pradesh Brahmana Sabha for 3 days. Later on the strength and belief of the Godly Intuition happened, six members of the Samakya visited Annavaram along with them (S/S. Y.S. Prakash Rao, G. Krishnamurthy, A. Subba Sarma, N.V. Ramana Rao, M. Kumar and Purohit D. Subramanyam), asserted all the details and construction of Prathista from the concerned authorities and elders in Annavaram. With these blessings, the Samakya started planning in the year 1999 and formed Trust called Sri Gayathri Arsha Vidya Mandir Trust. With the help of all Brahmins in and around Madanapalle town and all other communities the temple was constructed and prathista was happened on 04, May 2006. Since then all the Pujas and Sevas are being performed similar to Annavaram with all the devotion.

Gradually the temple development is on the way, added to this there is a proposal to start Vedic school with the intention to spread Hindu culture.
